He looked around the shop and saw that everything was normal. A stack of toolboxes precariously teetering in the corner, hand tools of different sizes cluttering the shelves, and an outdated calendar hung crooked on the wall next to him.
Some day this shop will be his. This chair will be his throne, and he will reign over the day-to-day operations of a single hardware store in a district full of duplicates. Like his grandfather, his own father, and even the uncles across the street, he will watch the same river of traffic flow by his door.
